About
Postrossing allows everyone to randomly send postcards all over the world and receive one in return.
Exchanges occur between the same two members only once, however direct swaps can occur between two consenting individuals.
How Does it Work
Register as a member, request and address, send your first postcard, don’t forget to write the unique code somewhere, then the waiting period, receive one in the snail-mail, register the card when it arrives.
You can send five postcards flying immediately.
Gallery
If you just love looking or researching postcards, the gallery is worth a peek. It can be broken down by country. If you’re interested in more information, the link shows which members sent the card, the distance it traveled, and how many days it took to travel.
the Why
Minimal cost, just postage and a card, the site is free.

Learning Opportunities
Many learning opportunities exist. Postcrossing keeps a wall of all your postcards sent and received that have a picture linked. Also on the wall is a map. The map has virtual strings linking the two locations. You can see what continent and country the card came from. You can even talk about the oceans.
The learning doesn’t stop at geography, but cards are loaded with culture, history, and so much more. Also, the wall contains statistical information. Who doesn’t love stats. Furthermore, so many questions arise from just talking about the card and where it came from.
Meet ups
Now I haven’t attended one myself, but I can’t wait to do so.
Meetups are organized by the community in the Postcrossing Forum.
However, you can’t just show up. You have to earn your way by ‘sticking around’ and learning about the community.
